LEADER is a rural development programme which aims to support individuals, organisations and communities in rural Perth and Kinross to be stronger, more confident and inclusive to lead or contribute to local economic and community development.
2014-2021 LEADER Programme delivered 74 diverse and innovative projects across rural Perth & Kinross, allocating just over £4.2million to communities, social enterprises, individuals and SME’s to deliver a wide range of projects including open challenge, community capacity, farm diversification and enterprise. Within this website you will find information on the funding programme (2014 – 2020), the Local Action Group (LAG), priorities for funding, national guidance and eligibility criteria for the programme and more. Further information will be added to the website in the coming months, with the information within these pages subject to change.
This is the first year for the Rural Perth and Kinross LEADER LAG. The area (excluding Perth City, Scone and part of the Cairngorms National Park) has been awarded approximately £3.8million for projects. The previous Tayside LEADER programme allocated a total of £1.35million to Perth and Kinross during 2008-2013 and supported a total of 80 projects.
Applications are encouraged from individuals, organisations and communities, find out who is eligible and what we can support. Please also keep in mind there may be other funding options you can explore too, RPK LEADER has jointly funded a project which links communities and small and micro businesses up with Crowdfunder Scotland in the Rural Perth and Kinross area to enable them to raise match funding for their project and develop crowdfunding expertise from support from Crowdfunder coaches. The Rural Economy Development (RED) group is a legacy group which is evolving from the original LEADER LAG for Rural Perth and Kinross. Their mandate is to work to continue delivering the rural change lead by the LAG through its various supported projects a refreshed Local Development Strategy. They are working to continue to building momentum of the recognition of rural economy and community enterprise’s contribution to the rural economy within Rural Perth and Kinross. Its work will reflect the National Council of Rural Advisors’ message to the Scottish Government which can be heard in the short video clip below.
